Web Accessibility

Web Accessibility Statement

The Town of Belleair is committed to ensuring that all visitors and residents, including visitors and residents with disabilities, are able to access and use all of our programs, services, and activities. We recognize that many visitors and residents are increasingly using our website to access information about what we offer, and to take advantage of the website to obtain services.

We also recognize that users of the website who have disabilities may use the website with the assistance of technology, including screen-readers, as well as with captioning, transcripts, and the use of other auxiliary aids and services. As outlined below, we want to provide users of our website with information about what we offer, ways to inform us of any difficulties encountered, alternative ways we can offer the services, the time frame for doing so, who to contact, and information about our ADA grievance procedure, as discussed below.

Our website offers a wide range of information and services, and we recognize that for users with disabilities, some material on our site may pose challenges. We are interested in hearing from users with disabilities, we want to know about your experiences, and want to address the challenges you identify.

Ongoing Website Accessibility and ADA Compliance Efforts

The Town of Belleair is in the process of assessing our website’s accessibility and is undertaking efforts to identify and address areas needing improvement. The Town has designated an ADA Coordinator and has also working with external vendors in order to bring our site into WCAG compliance.

Accessibility Design Guidelines

Our website has been designed with the following accessibility guidelines in mind:

  • The standard font used throughout the site has been chosen to be easily legible.
  • Wherever possible, we use live text instead of graphics to reduce the download time of pages and increase your control.
  • Our pages are designed to display without horizontal scrollbars when they are viewed at a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.
  • No information is exclusively conveyed using color. This doesn't mean that colors are not used to organize information; instead, it means there are also other, non-color dependent ways of doing this.
  • All images and hyperlinks, where appropriate, have an alternative text attribute. This means when an image or hyperlink is conveying important information its content is described with an alternative text.
  • We have attempted specifically to comply with Section 508 website accessibility standards.
  • If you have difficulty accessing the site or have any comments or feedback, please do not hesitate to contact us.
