The Town of Belleair recognizes the importance of developing and using alternative energies and reducing greenhouse gas emissions; and believes that pursuing the goals of alternative energy development and cleaner air will enhance America’s energy security, improve our environment, and provide Floridians with benefits from the economic activity associated with the new energy technologies. To practice these beliefs the Town of Belleair has begun the process of achieving “Green City” designation based on the Florida Green Building Coalition’s (FGBC) Florida Green City Local Government Standard.
“Green City” designation focuses on improving environmental performance through Energy, Water, Air, Land, Waste, and Community Awareness. As the Town of Belleair is committed to achieving goals for energy efficiency and environmental progress, “Green City” designation will be the guide. Following the standard which incorporates multiple environmental, ecological and sustainability features into our functions will allow the Town of Belleair to improve our environmental performance.
